IT & Audio Visual (AV) Technician (part-time)
We are seeking to appoint a technically skilled and service-oriented individual to serve as our IT & Audio Visual (AV) Technician, joining a small, dedicated team supporting a dynamic graduate community. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a vibrant, contemporary college within the historic context of the University of Oxford.
The successful candidate will play a dual role between IT support and live event delivery. You will provide first-line IT support to staff, students, and College members, resolving a broad range of day-to-day technical queries. You will also take responsibility for delivering AV and technical support during College events, ranging from academic seminars and formal dinners to graduation ceremonies and student-focused festivals.
The role is part-time and fixed term for 12 months. The hours are 22.5 hours per week, with 15 hours allocated to in-office IT support across two fixed weekdays, and the remaining 7.5 hours offered flexibly across evenings and weekends in line with the College’s events calendar. This flexibility, agreed in advance with line managers, will ensure appropriate support is available for regular events such as Dining with Dinosaurs and annual College graduation ceremonies.
For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Alex Wooten – Head of IT.
Deadline: noon, Monday 21 July
College Alumni & Engagement Co-ordinator (part-time)
We seek a proactive, well-organised, and imaginative individual with a professional background in alumni relations, communications, or stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will bring excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience in event or project planning and delivery, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with independence and discretion. A familiarity with database management and a sensitivity to data protection are essential, as is the ability to write compelling content for a range of audiences.
Working closely with the College’s Communications and Events team and reporting to the Senior Tutor, the postholder will lead on alumni engagement activities, including the production of the termly alumni newsletter and the ‘College Record’, coordination of alumni events, and communication with graduating students. They will also play an important role in donor relations, including support in the stewardship of the College’s valued relationship with the Reuben Foundation and other benefactors, as well as preparing reports and materials to support development initiatives.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional to make a lasting contribution to the foundation and future of Reuben College’s alumni and engagement work.
Deadline: noon, Friday 25 July
Official Fellowships (Governing Body), AI & Machine Learning
Reuben College seeks to recruit up to two new Official Fellows, starting September 2025.
In the 2025-26 academic year, we plan for there to be at least eight Official Fellows (Governing Body Fellows), plus the Head of House, within the AI & Machine Learning Theme at Reuben. In response to growing student numbers in this area, we are looking particularly for colleagues working in Machine Learning and/or Quantum Computing, to expand and complement the academic interests of current members.
To be eligible, applicants must be currently employed by the University in an RSIV, Grade 10, or 9 post, or in an 8 post if they are an independent researcher in an area related to the relevant theme.
Successful candidates will be elected to a Fellowship on a five-year renewable basis, with a midterm review, and with renewal dependent on satisfactory performance in college duties. However, a Fellowship at the College does not itself constitute employment and does not confer any rights to employment with the University.
As a Fellow of Reuben College, the postholder will have a role to play in the governance of the College through their membership of Governing Body and its subsidiary committees, and in the support of its graduate students and diverse interdisciplinary activities.
Official Fellows receive College membership and benefits including an annual allowance (of currently £3,000 per annum).
