What's open and when?

Reuben College Winter Closure

Many of the College staff and contractors will be taking well-deserved breaks in December. Therefore, there will be some reduction in college services compared to termtime. A number of Bank Holidays also fall during this period (when many shops and city services will be closed) and University departments and libraries will be shut. Below is a handy guide as to when Reuben is open during the Christmas period:

College Building

The college will be closed between these periods:   
16:00, 24 December - 9:00, 27 December  
17:00, 31 December - 8:00, 2 January 2026  

     

College opens between 9:00-17:00 only From 27 - 31 December

 

College Teams 

Many teams (including the Academic Office and Communications & Events Team) across College will be on annual leave between:  
17:00, Friday 19 December - 9:00, Monday 5 January 2026  

 

BaxterStorey

Kitchens will be closed for breakfast, lunch and dinner between:  
15:00, Friday 19 December - 8:00, Monday 5 January 2026

University Welfare Services

The Student Welfare and Support Service tends to close over vacation periods.

However, there are other options to access welfare support. 

Students are signposted to the Service's blog about vacation self-care.

There is also a list of emergency and out-of-hours contact information.

The Student Assistance Programme (0800 028 3766) remains available 24/7, including bank holidays. College sub-deans will have emergency College contact numbers – make contact via the Lodge on 01865 616477.
