Reuben College expands ‘Ethics & Values’ into new ‘Values & Society’ research theme

Reuben College is pleased to announce that its Ethics & Values theme, introduced in 2020, has now expanded into ‘Values & Society’. This shift reflects the widening breadth of humanities, social sciences and arts research within our academic community.

As Senior Tutor, Caroline Mawson, explains in her note to the College community:

This marks a new chapter for Reuben, in which we more firmly solidify the humanities as a core part of our College, affirming that here, they are intrinsically valuable, valued, and pursued in an environment of open enquiry.

At the same time, it looks to the future, ensuring that humanities and arts perspectives shape both our College culture and the ways in which we respond to the challenges of the 21st century.

The evolution also strengthens Reuben College's interdisciplinary focus. As a deliberately broad theme, Values & Society seeks to deepen connections and discussions within the humanities, while also engaging equally with our Cellular Life, Environmental Change, and Artificial Intelligence themes as partners in cross-thematic exchange.
